Sabbath RetreatsThrough INHEM’s Sabbath Retreat Program, campus ministers have the opportunity to partake in Sabbath – time set apart to relax, reflect, retreat and reconnect with God. Who: Chaplains or campus ministers serving an Indiana college or university are eligible to apply for a Sabbath retreat grant.
Sabbath retreat participants receive a copy of either Sabbath Time by Tilden Edwards or Keeping the Sabbath Wholly by Marva J. Dawn. This book is INHEM’s gift to you for use in preparing for your retreat and as an addition to your ministry library. A copy of the INHEM Sabbath Retreat format by Dr. Judith Burns is also included. When: Timing is based on individual choice and convenience. Where: Find a retreat location convenient to you. After your Sabbath retreat application is approved, you will make arrangements directly with your chosen site.
How: It’s easy…just complete the application and we’ll get back to you with a response within 72 hours after your application is received. If your application is approved, INHEM will mail the retreat resources to you. You are responsible for contacting your desired retreat site and making arrangements. Contact INHEM via email (inhem@inhem.org) with the total cost of your retreat. INHEM will then send a check for $75 (for an individual retreat) or $100 (for a group retreat) – or the total amount if retreat costs are less – directly to the retreat center. You are responsible for any remaining costs for your retreat. NOTE: Applications will be considered until the funds available for the 2010 Sabbath Retreat Program are depleted or December 1, whichever comes first. Follow Up: We ask retreat participants to share with others what you gained from your Sabbath retreat through an article for our newsletter or website or through a two to three minute presentation at an INHEM gathering. |
